Candy Cover Prezels and Crispy Peanut Butter Balls
I usually make at least a few candy covered pretzels each holiday season and to give them a holiday feel I sprinkle candy decor on after dipping but before the candy hardens. I normally make Peanut butter cups but this year I decided to make some Crispy Peanut Butter Balls instead. I used brown rice crispy cereal this time that I had but next time I will either go back to the regular rice crispy or chop up the cereal into smaller pieces. This would make it easier to form into balls and hopefully a little more crispy.
Tips for Candy coatings
Always use dry utensils
DO NOT add liquid
If Coating becomes too thick, add solid vegetable shortening, 1 tablespoon while heating. Stir until smooth.
Candy-Coated Pretzels
Vanilla Candy coating or White chocolate

Shortening (solid vegetable)
In a heavy sauce pan , over low heat, melt the desired amount of candy you need. Stir frequently. With a fork dip one pretzel at a time into the melted candy coating; let the excess coating drip off. Place on aluminum foil, or wax paper lined baking sheet. Chill for 30 minutes or until firm.
Crispy Peanut Butter Balls

2 cups peanut butter
2 cups powdered sugar
3 cups crispy rice cereal
Semisweet chocolate chips, melted
Combine butter, peanut butter, and powdered sugar: a crispy rice cereal and stir until combined. Roll into balls. Dip in melted chocolate. Place on wax paper or foil. Chill until firm.
