1-1/2 package yeast
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup scalded milk
5 cups flour
3 large eggs

Dissolve the yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in warm water. Combine the butter, remaining sugar and salt. Pour milk over the butter mixture and mix until butter is melted. Beat in eggs throughly.

Add enought remaining flour to make a soft dough. Turn out into floured board. and knead well. Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and place in greased pan. Let rise until double in bulk. Bake in preheated oven fat 375 degrees F. for 45 to 50 minutes. Best served hot with butter.
