Apple Crisp

Apples tend to be abundant and are very versatile for cooking. This is an Amish apple crips recipe using oatmeat.


3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 teasppon cinnamon
1/8 teasppon salt
2 cups apples, cored, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Sift together grandulated sugar, 1 tablespoons flour, cinnamon and salt. Gently combine with apple slices. Spoon into greased 8" x 12" pan.

Mix together well the oatmeal, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, baking soda and powder. Stir in melted shortening. Crumble over apple mixture.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 35 - 40 minutes. Serve warm or cold with milk.
