Spice Cake
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup Butter
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking bowder
1 teaspoon Cinnamom
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Cream sugar and butter together until fluffy. add eggs and beat until light.
Sift together all dry ingredients, then add them alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. MIx in the vanilla.
Pour into greased layer pans or (" x 13" cake pan. Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes
Variations:
Use cloves instead of nutmeg
Add 1 teaspoon allspice to dry ingredients
Add 1 teaspoon cloves to dry ingredients
