Butter Cream Icing

This is an easy icing that I used for the spice cake below. You can use other extracts for different flavors.

2 tablespoons butter, margarine or shortening
1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 tabslpoon cream or milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Beat shortening until smooth. Cream in (by hand or electric mixer) the sugar. When smooth add cream or milk and vanilla, beating until creamy.

Icing for a 9x13 cake (top only)
