Maple-Whole Wheat Batter Rolls

Yield: 12 rolls
1 1/2 cupsa all-purpose flour
1 package quick-rising active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cups maple-flavored syrup or honey
1 tablespoon Salt
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1t tablespoon skim milk
Spray twelve 2 1/2 inch muffin cups with nonstick spray coating; set aside.
In a large bowl stir together the all-purpose flour and yeast. Heat water, maple-flavored syrup or honey, margarine and salt to 125°F to 130°F; add to flour mixture. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium high speed for 30 seconds, scraping sides of bowl. Then beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Beat or stir in the whole wheat flour. Spoon batter into muffin cups. cover and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
Brush tops, lightly with milk,. Bake in a 400°F oven about 20 minutes or till brown and rolls sound hollow when tapped. Remove from pans. cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm.
