Plain Butter Paratha (griddle fried bread) Pakistan

There are at least 100 types of Paratha made in Pakistan. It is a simple flat bread.

Makes 6

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablepoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
oil, butter or ghee
extra flour for dusting

Place flour into a large mixing bowl, add melted butter, salt and stir. Add most of the water and knead to form a soft dough, add water or flour as needed. Knead for 5 to 8 minutes. Place it back into bowl, cover with plastic srap and set aside for 20 minutes. Divide the mixture inot balls about 2 inches in diameter and roll out each ball into circles about 4" in diameter. Brush each circle with oil/butter/ghee and lightly dust again with flour. Fold into half. so it looks like a "D" then brush with more oil/butter/ghee and lightly dust again with flour. Fold the "D" in half so it looks like a triangle then roll out into circles about 1/8 inch thick.

Place the disc ("paratha") on a heated pan and cook for one minute. Turn over and cook the other side for another minute.Brush melted butter or oil on the cooked Paratha and all around and shallow fry both sides over low heat until both sides are lightly toasted and golden brown.
