Beef and Noodles- Mennonite/American

Easy oven meat. This dish also freezes well.

3 pounds beef chuck
2 bay leaves
8 whole cloves
2 large carrots, cleaned and cut into thirds
1/4 cup instant broth (bouillon cubes)
3 quarts hot water
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 large onion
1 small green pepper, quartered
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound medium noodles


Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Place meat in large Dutch oven with the other ingredients except noodles and parsley for garnish. Cover and bake for 3 hours. Remove the pan from the oven an remove meat to a chopping board. Scoop vegetable with slotted spoon an discard them., reserving 1-2 pieces carrot. With a knife shred the meat into bite size pieces and chop carrots very fine. Return meant an carrots to broth. Stir in uncooked noodles. Cover and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until noodles are tender.
