Making Butter Off The Farm Or On

Making Butter off the Farm

Most likely you do not have or a butter churn and or cow but you still can make great butter using store bought heavy cream and using in a mixer, blender, or food processor which will sure save on the arms.

What you need:

Fresh cream (this is the whipping cream you buy)

Place cream in food processor, mixer or blender. Process on high until it becomes thick and lumpy. When it starts clumping up and a liquid starts forming slow down the mixer to low.
After you have little lumps and flakes of butter, you must "wash" it. Drain the liquid and mold the butter into a lump. Under cold running water, knead and roll it gently for 5 minutes.

Add salt, if desired; knead it in to distribute it evenly. Add herbs if desired and mold, then refrigerate.
