Serves 8
Combine in a large kettle
1 cup dried marrow or pea beans
3 quarts water
Soak overnight or by quik method. Simmer beans for about 45 minutes. Add
2 cups tomato juice
1 cup celery, diced
1 turnip, diced
1 carrot, cubed
1 potato, cubed
1/4 cup uncooked rice
1/3 cup onion chopped
1 beef bouillion cube
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
dash basil
Brown 1/2 pound ground beef, turkey or lamb in skillet
Bring soup to a boil and add meat , cover and simmer 1 hour.
