Ginger Creams

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons cloves
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg


Dash salt
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons margarine , softened
2-3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1.Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
2.Combine sugar, hot water, molasses, shortening and egg.
3.Blend well, Stir in remaining ingredients.
4.Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart.
5.Bake 375 degree F. oven to 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
7.Combine frosting ingredients , beat until light and fluffy.
8.Spread on cooled cookies.
